A chemical peel is the application of a solution, such as alpha hydroxy acid, beta hydroxy acid or trichloroacetic acid. They range in intensity from low – grade (or light) with minimal downtime to aggressive (or deep). The lighter the chemical peel, the more frequently they can be performed. Chemical peels are safe for most skin types. However, we do not recommend them for people with known sensitivities to the ingredients in the peel. We also advise pregnant and lactating women to not get this treatment. There are also certain diseases, such as skin lupus, that can increase epidermal sensitivity. These types of diseases can make chemical peels highly uncomfortable for the affected individuals.
Depending on your skincare needs, you may wish to receive regular VI peel treatments. We recommend spacing your treatments at least four weeks apart.
