A chemical peel is a treatment that removes the outer layers of skin so the healthier underlying layers appear. It delivers results similar to microdermabrasion treatments, but it doesn’t physically scrape the skin. Instead, it uses a chemical solution to loosen skin cell bonds and cause the outer layers of skin to slough off. It also boosts collagen growth and accelerates cell turnover for a more youthful, brighter complexion.
Chemical peels can treat various cosmetic issues, including age spots, wrinkles, acne, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. They’re most often used to treat the face, but they can also improve the appearance of the chest, neck, and back of the hands.
As the name suggests, a chemical peel causes the top layers of the skin to peel away. This removes damaged and discolored superficial cells. The newly revealed underlying layers of skin tend to be smoother and more radiant.
Different types of chemical peels offer varying levels of penetration. Light peels only remove the outermost layer of the skin. They’re the gentlest type and can treat acne, fine wrinkles, dryness, and uneven skin tone. Medium peels penetrate the middle layer of the skin and can treat the same issues as light peels.
Deep peels are the most intense option available. They may not be suitable for everyone. However, some doctors recommend deep chemical peels for stubborn scars, deep wrinkles, and precancerous growths.
Our chemical peels are safe and gentle for all skin tones and types. They may be a good treatment choice if you have skin texture concerns, uneven coloring, acne scars, wrinkles, or age spots. Peels are typically more cost-effective than laser resurfacing treatments that target many of the same aesthetic issues. Here are a few more chemical peel benefits:
El Paso chemical peels reduce common complexion complaints and improve the appearance of the skin. Removing dull cells from the skin’s surface can brighten the complexion and provide a youthful glow. To see the beautifying results others have received from chemical peels, view patients’ before and after photos. Many people experience exceptional outcomes, and you could, too. Remember that individual treatment results may vary.*
Several different aesthetic treatments target the same complexion issues chemical peels target. Therefore, many people need help deciding which treatment to trust for their skin rejuvenation needs. Here’s a brief overview of how chemical peels compare to other popular skin treatments.
Both chemical peels and microdermabrasion exfoliate the outer layer of the skin. However, chemical peels use chemicals to cause the skin’s surface layers to peel. Microdermabrasion, on the other hand, uses physical exfoliants to scrape off the skin’s outermost cells. Chemical peels generally offer deeper penetration and better potency than microdermabrasion. However, the latter may be a better option for people with very sensitive skin.
Laser resurfacing achieves many of the same goals as a chemical peel. It reduces acne marks and age spots while minimizing wrinkles and improving skin tone. Laser resurfacing devices use heat and light to resurface the skin. Ablative lasers damage the top layer of skin, while nonablative lasers do not.
Laser resurfacing may be a more effective choice for targeting deep wrinkles. However, it’s much more expensive than a chemical peel and has a longer recovery time.
VI Peel and Cosmelan Peel are two highly popular types of chemical peels. We offer both options at Azul Medspa and can help you choose the right one for your needs.
VI Chemical Peels contain a powerful blend of ingredients that help improve the clarity of your skin. They’re medium-depth peels that are safe for all types and tones of skin. Here are the six types of custom VI Peel products you can choose from:
The Cosmelan Chemical Peel is best suited to treat skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation issues. It’s a great solution for sun damage, irregular skin tone, melasma, and acne scars. It also minimizes large pores and fine lines while smoothing skin texture.
