Laser Hair Removal El Paso, TX

If you are tired of shaving, painful waxing or electrolysis, and messy creams, laser hair removal is the answer. It is the most effective method of ridding yourself of unwanted hair. It is a non-invasive procedure that works by selectively concentrating light energy in the hair follicle. This comfortable procedure can be performed in as little as 5 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the area treated, you can return to regular activity immediately following this procedure.* Of course following our suggested post-care is important to your results. Laser hair removal can be performed on any area of the face or body and is faster and easier than other methods of hair removal.

Laser hair removal requires a series of treatments that are based on several factors:

We utilize CUTERA® HR-Yag which is the latest technology available for hair removal and it is FDA-approved to treat all skin types, specializing in dark and tanned skin. Variable pulse durations and multiple spot sizes that the Cutera® YAG provides ensures the best results because it is able to adjust to every hair and skin type; it also gives the Cutera® YAG leg and facial vein treatment capabilities. The Dynamic Cooling Device technology provides consistent epidermal cooling and patient comfort.

UNDERSTANDING LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Until the last few years, shaving, plucking, waxing, and electrolysis were the only methods of removing unwanted hair. In the early 1990’s, the first reports of using laser energy to selectively damage and disable actively growing hair follicles were published, and since the mid 1990’s, laser hair removal has become the “Gold Standard” method for hair removal.
There are several laser hair removal systems available today, but they all work using the principle of selective photothermolysis, in which a carefully timed pulse of laser energy passes through the skin and is absorbed and converted to heat energy at the hair follicle. The generated heat energy is designed to destroy the hair follicle so it cannot grow back. Azul Medspa Laser Clinic utilizes the CUTERA LH -YAG laser which is the latest technology available for hair removal and it is FDA-approved to treat all skin types, specializing in dark and tanned skin.
For your comfort Azul Medspa Laser Clinic uses a GentleYAG laser which utilizes a Dynamic Cooling Device, which is a quick spray of cryogen which cools the skin. Right after the cryogen hits the skin and cools it the laser is fired. A pulse of laser light feels like a small pinch or slight sting similar to the snap of a rubber-band against skin. Primarily because of the Dynamic Cooling Device, no local anesthesia is required and the procedure is well tolerated.

What to Expect During Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal is a process that utilizes a low-energy laser to gently and easily remove unwanted hair, putting an end to the day to day routine of shaving and waxing. This new advanced technology transcends the older, painful hair removal treatments to deliver effective long-lasting results.* Because the laser treats more than one hair at a time, it is possible to effectively treat larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs, bikini area and face. Laser treatments leave your skin looking and feeling younger, smoother and silkier. Best of all, laser Hair Removal treatments have proven to be a safe, fast, gentle, and effective alternative method for hair removal.

Laser Hair Removal Candidates*

Laser Hair Removal works best with darker haired patients. Because the primary target in hair follicles is melanin pigment (dark pigment), less laser energy is absorbed by the skin and more by the hair follicle. Tanned skin also “robs” laser energy as it passes through the skin to the hair follicle. Because the pigment in the hair is the target for the laser energy, gray or white hair (which lacks pigment) cannot be effectively treated with any laser or light-based device.

How to Prepare for Your Laser Hair Removal El Paso Appointment

We recommend avoiding waxing, electrolysis, and plucking your hair for at least six weeks before your appointment. These processes remove the roots of your hair for a period of time. You need to keep your hair roots intact so that the laser hair removal process can work effectively. If you remove your hair roots before your appointment, your treatment results could be negatively impacted.

We also recommend avoiding excessive sunlight for six weeks before your treatment. Sun exposure can make your skin ultra-sensitive to the laser we use to remove hair. It can therefore increase your risk of burns, hyperpigmentation, or scarring. If you can’t avoid the sun for six weeks prior to treatment, we recommend always wearing high-quality sunscreen. Look for a product that blocks both UVB and UVA rays. You can also further protect your skin by wearing brimmed hats or loose, long-sleeved clothing.

Laser Hair Removal Aftercare

In addition to avoiding sunlight before treatment, we also recommend staying out of the sun for six weeks after treatment. Your skin will be more sensitive after your laser hair removal El Paso appointment. Preventing sun exposure will help you avoid post-treatment complications such as hyperpigmentation.

For up to two days after treatment, your skin may feel and look sunburned. To soothe any discomfort, keep the skin moisturized and apply cool compresses as needed. Feel free to apply makeup to cover up any embarrassing redness.

Laser Hair Removal Side Effects

Slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn, may occur in some clients. These effects are typically gone within a few hours, however they could last up to 24 hours. In some instances, hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypopigmentation (light spots) may occur; although it is very unlikely, if they do occur it is also not permanent.* Your consultant will review with you the potential side effects from Laser Hair Removal, and answer any more questions you may have.

How is Laser Hair Removal different from electrolysis?

Electrolysis is an antiquated and much slower process. During electrolysis a needle is actually inserted into each hair follicle, one at a time, over and over again. Each time it is inserted, an electric shock burns the follicle to retard hair growth. Laser Hair Removal uses the cool light of the laser to scan the treatment area, identify the hair follicle and within minutes all of the hairs in the laser’s beam are treated. Almost all patients who have had both procedures say that Laser Hair Removal is less painful, faster, more convenient and longer lasting.*

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

Laser-guided hair removal in El Paso TX can vary in price. The larger the treatment area, the higher the treatment price tends to be. Individual treatment sessions can cost anywhere between $250 to $800 or more per treatment. Small areas such as the bikini, underarms, and face usually cost between $250 and $350 per treatment. Large areas such as the legs or back often cost more than $600 per treatment. Most patients need between four and six treatments per area to get the results they want. The cost of laser hair removal usually includes the initial office visit, topical anesthetic, and the laser treatment itself. It may also include soothing agents and other post-treatment topical products. Before agreeing to any hair removal service, make sure you know exactly what’s included in the treatment cost.
Most health insurance policies do not cover the cost of laser-guided hair removal. The rare exception to this rule is if you have a health condition that may improve with removal of the hair. Hidradenitis suppurativa is a skin disease that causes boils or bumps to develop under the skin. There is no cure for this condition, but hair removal may help. Pilonidal cysts are another type of skin condition that may benefit from laser-guided hair removal. They are unusual pockets of skin and hair debris in the skin. Your insurance provider may cover hair removal services for either of these conditions. Otherwise, you shouldn’t expect your health insurance policy to help you pay for laser hair removal in El Paso.
The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on a wide variety of factors, including the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair’s growth cycle. Your hair grows in regular cycles and there are many factors that influence its growth. One’s age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in your hair’s location, thickness and resilience. Laser Hair Removal has its greatest effect on hair in the growing stage, also known as the anagen phase of the cycle; as the dormant, or telogen hairs become active, on average about 4-6 weeks after a treatment, some new hair growth will be observed. Multiple laser treatments are necessary for best results. Approximately 9-12 treatments every 4-6 weeks will be necessary for satisfactory, long-lasting results.*
Virtually all areas of the body can be treated and all hair types can be treated. However, it is unlikely that red, blonde, or gray hair will achieve optimum results.

There are certain medical conditions and medications that preclude patients from laser treatment. Certain medications can cause increased photosensitivity and may cause burns if not properly recognized. Azul Laser Clinic will review your medical history prior to treatment. It is imperative to have a certified medical personnel perform all laser procedures for safety reasons.
